ADVICE: The "Rules"

Well, Sex and the City 2 arrives on our screens this week and in honour of my ultimate favourite TV/movie character, Charlotte, here are the rules (a book written by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider) she speaks about so often. Some of them interesting, some of them hilarious and not one of them used by me, surprisingly, even though I am ALL about the rules...

RULE #1:

Be a creature unlike any other.

RULE #2:

Show up to parties, dances and social events even if you do not feel like it.

RULE #3:

It's a fantasy unless the man asks you out.

RULE #4:

In an office romance, do not email him back every time he emails you unless it is business related.

RULE #5:

In a long distance relationship, he must visit you at least three times before you visit him.

RULE #6:

When considering whether to use personal ads or other dating services, you should place the ad and let men respond to you.

RULE #7:

If he does not call, he is not that interested. Period.

RULE #8:

Close the deal - Rules women do not date men for longer than two years.

RULE #9:

Buyer beware - observe his behaviour so you do not land up with Mr. Wrong.

RULE #10:

Keep doing the RULES even when things are going slow.
